Couple Names Twin Babies After Favourite Band and Film Character
A couple from Wales made a unique choice when naming their twin boys, drawing inspiration from their favourite band and a beloved film character. Katrina Weynberg, 30, and her husband Donald Weynberg, 32, decided to name one of their twins after the British folk-rock band Mumford & Sons, while the other twin was named Murphy after a character from the film Interstellar.
The couple shared that their decision to name one of their sons after Mumford & Sons was influenced by the fact that the baby would kick in the womb only when they played the band’s music. This special connection to the band’s music during the pregnancy led them to choose the name Mumford for one of their sons. Additionally, their love for the film Interstellar inspired the name Murphy for the other twin, with a famous line from the movie even making it into their wedding vows.
Their dedication to the band became even more apparent when they attended a show where Katrina had the opportunity to chat with Marcus Mumford himself. As she showed him her son’s passport with the name Mumford, Marcus Mumford graciously accepted the gesture and shared a heartfelt moment with the family.
The twins, Mumford and Murphy, were born in December 2021 after a pregnancy journey filled with musical connections. Katrina revealed that while Murphy was more active in the womb, Mumford would only kick in response to music, leading to the decision to give him a name rooted in musical significance.
