**Countryfile’s Matt Baker Embraces Farming Life After Family Decision**
Popular TV presenter Matt Baker has recently disclosed that he is leading a “double life” after making a significant choice to fully immerse himself in the world of farming. Known for his appearances on Our Dream Farm and Countryfile, Baker has shared glimpses of his idyllic life on a farm in County Durham with his wife, Nicola, and their children, Luke and Molly. Stepping away from his role on The One Show, Baker expressed his passion for creating farming-centric programmes and highlighted the joys of returning to his family farm. In a candid interview with Total TV Guide, the ex-Blue Peter host revealed his deep connection to rural living, stating his fascination with the changing seasons and the peaceful rhythm of nature.
Speaking to Total TV Guide, Baker expressed, “The countryside has shaped who I am. I love the pace of nature; how the seasons evolve, and it’s truly significant. I am fully involved in farming. I lead a double life, in essence. When I’m not on television, I’m out in the fields.” He further added, “It’s a world that I’m immensely proud of. And it’s a world that I aim to showcase through my shows. We all yearn for it. I find myself most creative in the countryside. Despite being dyslexic and struggling with reading, I have a deep love for animals.” The presenter also acknowledged the support of his family in balancing his TV commitments and farm chores, emphasizing the strength and unity they provide.
Growing up on his parents’ farm surrounded by animals, Baker appreciates the value of working alongside family members, highlighting it as one of the best aspects of a farming upbringing. The new series of Our Dream Farm follows seven candidates competing for the opportunity to become the tenant of a 600-acre farm owned by the National Trust in Eryri, North Wales. Describing it as the most wildlife-rich farm owned by the National Trust in Wales, Baker expressed his excitement about the candidates, ranging from builders to seasoned farmers and even a mother-and-son duo, participating in a series of challenges as part of a practical job interview process.
With a passion for showcasing the beauty and importance of rural life, Matt Baker’s journey into the farming world has been met with admiration and respect. His dedication to sharing stories of agriculture and nature through television programmes like Our Dream Farm serves as a source of inspiration for many viewers. As Baker continues to navigate his dual roles as a TV presenter and a farmer, his commitment to both worlds shines through, creating a unique blend of entertainment and education for audiences across the country.
