Luxury car dealer ransacked and thousands worth of cars stolen
Owners of a luxury car dealership in Newport are left “devastated” after their showroom was “ransacked” by two masked men who broke in and stole two cars. The incident occurred in the early hours of Sunday, August 18, at the Whitson Prestige car dealership. The co-founder, Rory Collingbourne, arrived at work to find windows smashed, a garage door forced open, and £85,000 worth of vehicles stolen. The dealership, known for specialising in luxury, performance, and classic cars, expressed deep sadness over the incident.
The perpetrators, captured on CCTV, caused extensive damage during the break-in. Gwent Police are urging anyone with information to come forward. Rory Collingbourne has shared the CCTV images on social media in hopes of catching the thieves. The stolen vehicles include a black BMW XM3 with the registration LC71 VDX and a white Mercedes C43 with the registration RF19 JVN. It is believed that the same group may have targeted other dealerships in South Wales.
Rory Collingbourne, in a statement, expressed profound disappointment at the loss of vehicles and sentimental items. He noted the impact on customers, including having to cancel a scheduled handover due to one of the stolen vehicles. Despite the setback, the dealership is determined to continue serving customers with excellence and recover from the incident. Gwent Police have launched an investigation into the burglary, urging the public to provide any information that may assist in the case.
Gwent Police spokesperson confirmed the break-in at Whitson Prestige, where the stolen vehicles and a designer briefcase were reported missing. Enquiries are ongoing, and anyone with relevant details is encouraged to contact the police quoting log reference 2400276638. The dealership, like several others in Newport, hopes justice will be served for all affected by such thefts.
As investigations continue, the dealership and the community are rallying for the recovery of the stolen cars and the apprehension of those responsible for the crime. The incident serves as a sobering reminder of the importance of security measures in safeguarding valuable assets and businesses against criminal activities. The local authorities and residents are working together to support Whitson Prestige during this challenging time and ensure justice prevails.
