Car fire on M4 causes seven miles of queues with long delays

Emergency services are on the scene of a vehicle fire on the M4. The incident happened just after 5 pm on the M4 westbound, near junction 43 of the motorway and the A465 at Llandarcy. Live traffic maps show the fire service in attendance with the slip road and one lane of the motorway closed. Queues are trailing from J43 across the M4 stretch at Port Talbot to Taibach. This is already a pinch point for slow traffic.

Traffic Monitoring system INRIX says that traffic is also congested on the opposite side due to onlookers. The Westbound A465 is also congested approaching the roundabout. The incident is causing significant delays, with reports of queues stretching for seven miles. Motorists are advised to avoid the area if possible and seek alternative routes to their destinations.

The situation is developing, and updates will be provided as more information becomes available. Stay tuned for any potential diversions or road closures that may be implemented to manage the flow of traffic around the affected area. Remember to drive cautiously and follow instructions from authorities to ensure safety for yourself and others on the road.
