A “persistent offender” has been banned from entering Wrexham city centre for four years. Paul Evans was handed a criminal behaviour order by magistrates after he pleaded guilty to assault following an incident in Queen’s Square. North Wales Police released a statement saying, “A 55-year-old Wrexham man has been handed a four-year community behaviour order (CBO). Paul Evans, of no fixed abode, appeared at Wrexham Magistrates Court on Tuesday, August 13th having admitted assault following an incident in Queen’s Square on May 21st.” The statement continued, “He was issued a CBO which means Evans cannot enter Wrexham city centre for the next four years and must engage with drug and alcohol services.”
Wrexham city support sergeant Rhian Hughes added, “Paul Evans is a persistent offender in Wrexham, and I hope that this CBO will provide reassurance to residents and the community.” Criminal behaviour orders are given out by a criminal court to deal with serious and persistent individuals involved in criminal activity. If a criminal behaviour order is breached, it is a criminal offence and could lead to imprisonment, reports North Wales Live.
