A young man’s lucrative drug dealing operation was exposed after police intercepted a message on his mobile phone. Lee Dickenson, 22, was apprehended by officers in Barry, where he was found in possession of a significant quantity of cannabis and cocaine. This discovery ultimately led to the unraveling of his illicit money-making scheme. During a sentencing hearing at Cardiff Crown Court, it was revealed that Dickenson had been involved in drug dealing, with evidence pointing to his involvement in directing another individual in the trade.
Prosecutor Harry Bakr described the contents of Dickenson’s phone, including a message indicating an immediate need for cash, hinting at the urgency and scale of his operation. Subsequent searches of Dickenson’s residence unearthed additional supplies of cannabis, a small amount of cocaine, drug paraphernalia, multiple mobile phones and a stash of cash. The street value of the confiscated cannabis was estimated to be between £1,800 and £3,300, underscoring the scale of Dickenson’s drug dealing enterprise.
Dickenson, who resides in Cei’r Dwyrain, Barry, pleaded guilty to charges of possession with intent to supply cannabis and possession of cocaine. His defence solicitor, Emma Harris, highlighted his turbulent upbringing and struggles with substance abuse as contributing factors to his criminal activities. Despite these challenges, Judge Daniel Williams sentenced Dickenson to eight months in prison, to be served concurrently with his existing sentence of three years and nine months for previous drug-related convictions.
