Search for foster homes for 12 dogs found wandering around wasteland

A group of twelve dogs found abandoned in a derelict caravan on wasteland in Carmarthenshire is in need of support for their veterinary care and is currently seeking foster homes. The dogs were rescued by the RSPCA and Dyfed-Powys Police on January 27 after concerns were raised for their welfare. According to an RSPCA spokesperson, the dogs, mostly retrievers, were discovered in poor conditions and were taken into possession by the police for their well-being. The dogs are now under the care of the Lllys Nini RSPCA centre in Swansea, where they are receiving the necessary veterinary treatment and care.

In a plea for assistance, the Lllys Nini RSPCA centre has highlighted the dire condition in which the dogs were found, emphasizing the need for additional funds to aid in their recovery. The rescue included eight golden retrievers, one shar pei cross, and three terriers of various ages, all females. The rescue operation was initiated after one of the dogs managed to escape and lead a concerned member of the public back to the site where the dogs were found. The centre expressed gratitude for the escapee, acknowledging her as a hero for bringing attention to the plight of the other dogs.

Despite the care they are currently receiving, the dogs are not yet ready for adoption due to their extensive medical needs. Aside from routine procedures such as vaccinations, spaying, and grooming, many of the dogs require complex dental work, mass removal surgeries, and hernia repairs. The cost of these treatments is estimated to be substantial, running into thousands of pounds. Additionally, some of the dogs are described as extremely shy and in need of loving foster homes to help them acclimate and thrive.
