New chief executive at Neath Port Talbot Council

Neath Port Talbot Council in Wales has announced the appointment of a new chief executive officer, Frances O’Brien, following the retirement of former CEO Karen Jones earlier this year. O’Brien, who previously served as the chief officer for communities and place at Monmouthshire County Council since 2018, hails from Neath Port Talbot and has extensive experience in local government, including roles at Merthyr Tydfil County Borough Council and Blaenau Gwent County Borough Council focusing on recycling and waste management.

Additionally, O’Brien chaired the Cardiff-based Cadwyn Housing Association and was selected after a rigorous recruitment process, showcasing a diverse skill set.
