Gnoll Estate Country Park in Neath Port Talbot is set to receive a £12 million makeover thanks to UK Government funding. The park, spanning over 100 acres in the Vale of Neath, has long been a favourite among locals and visitors alike since its creation in the 18th century. Known for its expansive green spaces, visitor centre, and café, the park will soon undergo significant improvements to modernise its facilities and restore historic features.
The upcoming revamp will see the demolition of the current visitor centre to make way for a new two-storey facility that includes a modern café, event and conference spaces, and a dedicated children’s play area. Additionally, a new woodland adventure playground will be introduced, alongside repair works to the Gnoll House ruin and restoration of the park’s historic cascades. Information boards will be installed to showcase the park’s rich history, while extensions to walking routes and a new bridge linking the park to Brynau Farm are also planned.
The project, which includes landscaping, parking enhancements, and other improvements, is scheduled to commence in August, with an expected duration of around a year. Temporary catering facilities and toilets will be made available to visitors during the renovation period. Park enthusiasts can still enjoy the popular Parkrun event with a temporary route, while a temporary path will allow walkers to continue enjoying the park’s scenic lake circuit.
A council spokesperson stated that the makeover aims to enhance visitors’ experiences at Gnoll Estate Country Park and boost its appeal as a recreational destination. The park’s transformation is anticipated to bring new life and amenities to the beloved outdoor space, ensuring that future generations can continue to enjoy its natural beauty and historical significance.
