Porthcawl is set to welcome a new and exciting addition to its town – a children’s play area featuring a large whale. This development comes as part of a £3 million regeneration scheme at Cosy Corner, funded by Shared Prosperity Funding from the UK Government. The initiative at Cosy Corner has already seen significant transformation, turning a once-neglected part of the town into a vibrant hub. With the addition of six commercial units, public seating, and space for outdoor events, the area now offers a range of amenities for locals and visitors alike. The play area will be a valuable extension of these offerings, providing a dedicated space for children to play and interact in a marine-inspired environment.
The focal point of the play area will be a large blue whale structure, surrounded by interlocking climbing nets, platforms, slides, and ladders. Additionally, there will be smaller boat-themed features and interactive play panels to engage young minds and bodies. The design reflects the coastal identity of Porthcawl and has been inspired by ideas contributed by local school children, ensuring that the space resonates with the community it serves.
