Louise Mcfarlane purchased a set of magnetic building balls for her son, Junior Gallon, from Amazon two years ago. Typically used for building models, the magnets posed a severe risk when Junior pretended to use them as a tongue piercing on December 22nd.
Junior confided in his mother, Louise, about the mishap, leading to an immediate trip to A&E where an x-ray revealed the two magnets clumped together in his stomach. Doctors alerted the family to the potential danger of the magnets causing significant harm if they attached to opposite sides of a vital organ. The situation could have been even more dire if the magnets had been jagged, potentially risking a rupture in Junior’s bowel.
Louise was instructed to ensure Junior steered clear of not only other magnets but all metal items, including clothing zippers, to prevent the magnets from shifting within his body.
