Drug Dealer Caught with Large Quantity of Cannabis Worth £9,000
A drug dealer in Wales was recently apprehended by police while riding an E-bike. The arrest led to the discovery of a significant amount of cannabis and a large sum of money in his possession. Daniel Jackson, aged 30, was found with nearly 1.5kg of cannabis, valued at up to £9,000, and over £40,000 in cash. The incident took place in Newport, where Jackson was seen leaving a property associated with drug dealing while riding his E-bike on November 3 of the previous year. Upon being stopped by officers, Jackson initially provided false information about his address, but it was later revealed that he resided in a flat on Brynderwen Road.
Subsequent to Jackson’s arrest, a search warrant was obtained for his residence, leading to the discovery of various drug-related items. Among the items found were 19 bags of different cannabis strains, weighing a total of 1,492g. Additionally, drug paraphernalia, scales, a firearm in a holster, a small quantity of amphetamine, and a total of £43,980 stored in a black Nike bag were uncovered. The prosecution estimated the value of the seized cannabis to be between £6,200 and £9,000. Furthermore, an examination of a mobile phone seized from Jackson revealed numerous messages advertising the sale of drugs.
During a sentencing hearing at Newport Crown Court, it emerged that Jackson had a history of nine prior convictions for drug-related offences such as possession with intent to supply cannabis, offering to supply cannabis, and possession of mephedrone and cannabis. In his defence, Sol Hartley stated that his client had found himself in over his head and could benefit from probationary assistance. Consequently, Judge Daniel Williams sentenced Jackson to 16 months’ imprisonment, with half of the term to be served in custody and the remainder under license.
