Tube station sex attacker caught in Wales after getting off ferry

A man who sexually assaulted two women on the London Underground was apprehended as he disembarked from a ferry at Holyhead from Ireland. Mansoor Ahmed, 30, committed his initial assault at Gloucester Road Underground Station on September 6, 2020. The victim’s screams prompted Ahmed to flee the scene, but he was later identified through a public appeal, subsequently becoming a wanted individual for questioning.

During a sentencing hearing at Cardiff Crown Court, it was revealed that Ahmed sexually assaulted his second victim while she descended the steps at Charing Cross Underground Station. Despite walking away following the assault, he was later detained. After being arrested and released under investigation, attempts to locate Ahmed proved unsuccessful. However, on May 27, 2021, he was arrested upon arrival in Holyhead, Anglesey, via ferry from Ireland.

Ahmed, a resident of Stephenson Street, Riverside, Cardiff, pleaded guilty to two counts of sexual assault. The court sentenced him to 26 months’ imprisonment, with a requirement to comply with sex offender notification conditions for 10 years. Detective Sergeant David Weatherhead of the British Transport Police expressed disdain for Ahmed’s actions, asserting a policy of zero tolerance towards such behaviour on the rail network.
