The huge change in the number of speeding offences, deaths and injuries on 20mph and 30mph roads in a year in Wales

A significant drop in speeding offences, deaths, and injuries on 20mph and 30mph roads in Wales has been reported for July 2024 compared to the same month in 2023. Speeding offences decreased by nearly 30%, with 14,421 recorded in July this year compared to 20,303 in July last year. The decline in offences has been attributed to Operation Ugain, a programme introduced in January to engage with speeding drivers in 20mph areas. The Welsh Government will begin reverting some roads from 20mph back to 30mph starting from September.
