A new ‘most advanced’ special school building is being developed by Vale of Glamorgan Council. The £20m eco-friendly facility called Ysgol Llyn Derw is set to be completed by June 2025. The school will have green features like a green roof, air source heat pumps, solar panels, and on-site battery storage. Despite concerns about building on green wedge land, the headteacher of Ysgol Y Deri stressed the urgent need for the new facility. The project aligns with the council’s goal to be carbon neutral by 2030.
