BBC Children in Need’s live broadcast was unexpectedly interrupted when Mel Giedroyc delivered a “breaking news” announcement. During the Friday night event, hosts Ade Adepitan MBE, Mel Giedroyc, Rochelle Humes, Vernon Kay, Chris Ramsey and Lenny Rush took charge of the evening’s proceedings. Within an hour into the show, Sue signalled for attention and said to those watching: “Hang on, sorry, hang on. Right, I am being told we have to interrupt this programme for some very important breaking news.” Mel then switched over to Lenny, positioned at a news desk, to present the “Pudsey Headlines”.
Starting his segment with confidence, Lenny declared: “Hello, and welcome to the news,” and introduced himself with “And I am Lenny Rush.” He proceeded to share information about the schools involved in this year’s Children in Need fundraising efforts. Wrapping up with a chuckle, Lenny remarked, “I think that is enough news for now,” before handing back to co-host Rochelle Humes, reports the Mirror.
Meanwhile, celebrities, including Paddy McGuinness have been contributing their efforts to the charitable cause. Overcome with emotion, Paddy finished his impressive 300-mile bike ride from Wales to Scotland on Friday. Once he completed his journey, an exhausted but relieved Paddy stated: “Every morning when I woke up everything was aching and it was always dark and cold but I’ve been saying it for the last few days, when you get on the bike, and you get on the road and everyone comes out it just spurs you on.
“Even though we’re filming stuff and putting things on social media; until you’re actually in that moment, I will never be able to get it across fully what it felt like. All the different sounds, all the cities, all the communities. Everyone came out and everyone were together for something. And all those faces, all the kids, all the nurseries, all the primary schools, all drawing pictures of Patch – none of them had a clue who I were – but it was just so beautiful to see and the streets were lined with people. Honestly it’s a moment in time I’ll take with me to my grave. I’ll never ever forget it. It’s been amazing.”
