A family-run campsite located next to a sandy beach with breathtaking views has been crowned the best in the UK by Wales Online. Tyddyn Isaf, a caravan park nestled in Anglesey, has been recognised as one of the premier outdoor accommodation spots in the country, earning the prestigious title of AA Campsite of the Year. The AA Caravan and Camping Awards, a long-standing event that began in 1979, honours top sites and parks in the UK. This year’s awards showcased 12 exceptional locations selected by the AA’s expert inspectors for their quality and dedication to customer service. Tyddyn Isaf, which won the Campsite of the Year award for Wales and the overall winner prize, impressed inspectors with its prime location on rising ground overlooking Lligwy Bay.
According to an AA inspector, Tyddyn Isaf is a beautifully positioned family park adjacent to a sandy beach offering stunning views of the bay. The Mount family has owned the site since 1975, with daughter Haley and husband Simon continuing the tradition of providing excellent hospitality and service. The park features quality serviced hardstanding pitches that offer privacy for guests, alongside amenities such as coffee lounges, a bar serving snacks throughout the day, and a takeaway with wood-fired pizzas. The unique undulating terrain of the park allows for the creation of top-notch pitches with stunning coastal and country views. In addition to well-equipped amenity blocks, the site boasts a new coffee lounge and bar, a shop, a gym, and a business centre with high-speed internet.
The commitment to sustainability and conservation is evident at Tyddyn Isaf, with 200 solar panels powering all buildings on the site and 8,500 trees planted in 1992 to create a tranquil woodland area for guests to enjoy. The campsite owners, Arthur and Beverly Mount, alongside their daughter Haley and son-in-law Simon, have dedicated themselves to providing exceptional experiences for visitors while promoting responsible tourism practices. Haley Mount Leonard expressed pride in the award, which she sees as a reflection of the family’s dedication to quality, community, and environmental stewardship. She highlighted the joy of living in such a beautiful location on Anglesey and looks forward to continuing to create lasting memories for guests in the years to come.
In addition to Tyddyn Isaf, other winners at the AA Caravan and Camping Awards included Witches Craig Caravan and Camping Park, Skelwith Fold Caravan Park, Old Oaks Touring & Glamping in Somerset, and Hadspen Glamping in Somerset. The recognition of Tyddyn Isaf as the best campsite in the UK underscores the commitment of the Mount family to providing a top-notch holiday experience for visitors. With its stunning coastal and country views, array of amenities, and dedication to sustainability, Tyddyn Isaf stands out as a shining example of excellence in the camping and caravanning industry. Visitors to the site can look forward to unforgettable sunsets, peaceful walks through woodland areas, and a warm welcome from a family passionate about creating happy memories for all guests.
