A man exposed himself to women outside a kebab shop after they taunted him about the size of his manhood, a court in Swansea heard. Abdul Rahim, a 33-year-old defendant, pulled down the front of his trousers outside Big Daddy’s takeaway, an act he now regrets as a “drunken mistake.” The incident took place in the early hours of August 13 last year on Wind Street in Swansea.
According to Craig Jones, the prosecuting attorney, the encounter happened after the defendant and the women had interacted in a club earlier that night. After an exchange of words outside the kebab shop, Rahim responded by briefly exposing himself. The matter was reported to the police, and upon his arrest, he was found in possession of a small amount of cocaine.
Rahim, who pleaded guilty to exposure and cocaine possession, attributed his actions to consuming a large amount of alcohol that night. His defence lawyer, Alycia Carpanini, highlighted his traumatic childhood experiences in Afghanistan, which led to post-traumatic stress disorder. Despite CCTV footage showing the women were not greatly distressed, Rahim acknowledged his wrongdoing and expressed remorse for his actions.
Sentencing Rahim, Judge Geraint Walters emphasized the potential life-changing consequences of actions taken while under the influence of alcohol or drugs. As part of his punishment, Rahim was placed on an 18-month community order and instructed to undergo rehabilitation. He will also be registered as a sex offender for the next five years.
