Jason and Vicki Bell, a couple from Wales, have made a remarkable success story out of mowing lawns. What started as Jason’s gardening job for his uncle has now flourished into multiple lawn care franchises, thanks to the couple’s determination and hard work.
Their venture, GreenThumb, was established in 2008 with their first franchise in Oswestry. Despite having no prior experience in entrepreneurship, Jason and Vicki combined their skills – Jason’s lawn care expertise and Vicki’s administrative and customer service abilities – to launch and grow their business. Starting with operations in Oswestry, they expanded to Bridgnorth and later took on additional branches in Flintshire, Wrexham, and the Wirral, each boasting impressive turnovers.
Their recent expansion brought them back to their roots in North East Wales, where they have reestablished their office. Jason shared, “It has always been our goal to acquire these areas in North East Wales, so when we learnt that it was available, we jumped at the chance – it was a no-brainer.” The sentimental value of owning the franchise where Jason’s uncle helped kickstart his career at GreenThumb adds to their drive for success.
With a strong team of seven lawn specialists and a fleet of seven vans, the couple now manages their business from Sandycroft. Vicki said, “We will be looking to expand the talented local team, who all deliver exceptional customer experience, as well as grow our customer base over the five branches to over 6,000 within our first year and increase our turnover by 5% year-on-year.”
Their aim is not only to provide top-notch lawn care services but also to prioritize customer satisfaction and community engagement. Their dedication to delivering high-quality service and keeping the community at the heart of their operations sets them apart in the lawn care industry.
