Drivers in Wales are being warned of upcoming road closures on the M4 that could cause disruptions over the next week. The closures are necessary for scheduled repair work and maintenance, with some affecting key areas on the network. While most of the works will occur overnight, drivers are still advised to plan for potential delays.
One of the affected areas this week is the Prince of Wales Bridge, where one lane will be closed for resurfacing work and contraflow in both directions. Wales-bound traffic will be using one lane on each carriageway, while England-bound will have two lanes running. This work is expected to continue until May 30, 2025.
In Pyle, the M4 westbound offslip at junction 37 will be closed for clearance work from October 20 to October 25 between 8 pm and 6 am. Additionally, a road closure at junction 47 in Penllergaer will be in place for carriageway maintenance during the same overnight hours.
In England, motorists can expect closures on the M4 westbound at various junctions for structures work and maintenance. These closures will occur between October 21 and 24, with diversions in place via alternative routes. Other closures include slip roads and lane closures for maintenance and repairs along different sections of the M4 in England.
Drivers are urged to stay informed about these closures and plan their journeys accordingly to avoid any unnecessary delays. For the latest updates on road closures and traffic news, sign up for the WalesOnline newsletter. Stay connected to avoid any last-minute surprises on your commute.
