Cleaning expert’s 2 natural ingredients to remove limescale – ‘stronger than vinegar’

A cleaning expert has unveiled a simple yet effective solution for dealing with stubborn limescale build-up using just two natural ingredients. Limescale, a common issue in many households due to minerals present in tap water, can be challenging to remove. Jess Farinha, the founder of London House Cleaners, shared her expertise on tackling limescale stains caused by dripping taps. She recommends a mixture of citric acid and baking soda as a powerful remedy. Farinha explained the process of applying the solution, emphasising the importance of letting it sit for about 30 minutes to dissolve the limescale effectively. She highlighted the superiority of citric acid over white vinegar for quicker removal of mineral deposits. Additionally, Farinha advised against harsh scrubbing to prevent damage to sensitive finishes, suggesting the use of a lemon rind for extra cleansing power in tight spaces. The final step involves rinsing the area thoroughly with warm water and drying it with a microfibre cloth. Although the baking soda and citric acid method may not be as well-known as using vinegar, Farinha attests to its effectiveness in eliminating tough limescale marks while leaving a pleasant citrus scent behind. This simple yet potent cleaning solution can leave your bathroom looking sparkling clean and smelling fresh simultaneously.
