A former village hotel in Bridgend could soon undergo a transformation into housing, as a planning application has been submitted to Bridgend Council by developers at Mainty Group Consulting Ltd. The former Old Kings Head Hotel in High Street, Ogmore Vale, may be converted into flats if the proposal is approved. The plans suggest that the building, which has appeared to deteriorate in recent years, could potentially house nine flats, with five designated as “self-contained affordable” properties.
The submitted plans aim to maintain the original colouring and façade design of the building while undergoing a full repair to revive its original features and finishes. Situated close to a pharmacy and a burger bar, the site was previously used as a hotel and flats. However, reports suggest that the building has become dilapidated and an eyesore over time. The development plans also include parking at the rear of the site.
The proposal will now be reviewed by the local planning authority in the following months to determine its approval. If successful, the project could breathe new life into the former hotel, providing much-needed housing options in the area.
