Full list of 2025 bank holidays for England and Wales

In 2025, the bank holidays in England and Wales are set to offer eight days off for workers, each occurring on different days depending on annual celebrations like Easter and Christmas. As the year comes to a close with only two bank holidays left in 2024, many people are already looking forward to planning their work breaks for the upcoming year. Unlike fixed holidays, bank holidays shift each year due to various factors such as weekends and changing annual events like Easter. The good news is that for 2025, there are no plans to add additional bank holidays beyond the eight already in place, as there are no major national celebrations on the horizon.

The first bank holiday of 2025 falls on January 1, followed by Good Friday just over three months later on April 18. Easter Monday will then take place on April 21. In May, there are two bank holidays, on Monday, May 5, and Monday, May 26. The summer bank holiday, typically towards the end of the school summer holidays, will be on Monday, August 25. To end the year, the Christmas bank holidays in 2025 are set for Thursday, December 25, and Friday, December 26. Looking ahead to 2026, the Government has already released a list of bank holidays, including New Year’s Day, Good Friday, Easter Monday, Early May bank holiday, Spring bank holiday, Summer bank holiday, Christmas Day, and Boxing Day.

Despite the excitement for the upcoming bank holidays, there are no additional days planned for 2025 beyond the traditional eight. With the first bank holiday of the year approaching on January 1, followed by Easter celebrations in April, and various other breaks throughout the year, workers can start planning their well-deserved time off.
