Huge transformation planned for iconic hotel overlooking famous Welsh beach

Plans are underway for a significant transformation of the iconic Atlantic Hotel in Tenby, overlooking one of Wales’ most beloved beaches. The hotel, which has stood for nearly 125 years since its opening in 1905, sits at the Paragon near Tenby’s historic town walls, offering a breathtaking view of South Beach. Recently acquired by Crest Hotels, the Atlantic Hotel is set to undergo a rejuvenation project that includes the addition of a luxurious spa facility.

The four-storey Grade II listed Imperial Hotel currently offers 44 rooms and is known for its historic charm. The new owners aim to conduct a meticulous restoration, introducing modern amenities to enhance the guest experience. Plans involve revamping the bar and lounge areas, as well as adding a spa and relaxation area on the lower ground floor. The food and drink offerings will be upgraded, along with improvements to the existing terrace at the rear of the property. Additionally, a cinema room is in the works to further enhance guest experiences.

According to Jason Hiley, the managing director of Crest Hotels, the vision for the transformation is to preserve the hotel’s historical legacy while introducing contemporary comforts. The revitalised hotel is expected to offer a blend of old-world elegance and modern luxury, featuring amenities such as balcony/terrace views, high-speed internet access, power showers, air conditioning, and premium bedding. The luxurious spa, with facilities like a jacuzzi, steam room, sauna, and state-of-the-art gym, will provide guests with a rejuvenating retreat.

“We are thrilled to embark on this journey of revitalising the Imperial Hotel,” expressed Jason Hiley. “Our vision is to preserve its historic legacy while introducing modern comforts that will elevate the guest experience to new heights. Tenby is a truly magical destination, and we look forward to welcoming guests to experience its beauty and charm.”

The plans for the Atlantic Hotel’s transformation have been submitted to the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park Authority, signalling an exciting new chapter for this historic establishment. Guests can look forward to a harmonious blend of tradition and modernity, making their stay at the hotel a truly unforgettable experience.
