Following this year’s bustling event that saw thousands of participants take to the streets of Cardiff, the rush for spots in next year’s half marathon was immediate.

Registrations for the 2025 Cardiff Half Marathon commenced on Wednesday, October 9, shortly after the 2024 race, and saw early bird and second release tickets swept up in just over an hour. Subsequently, all general entry places were grabbed, leaving aspiring runners to secure a spot through official charities, international tour operators, or Business Challenge packages. This year’s race marks the event’s 22nd year, with organisers expressing that this is the quickest sell-out in the history of the race.

The Cardiff Half Marathon has grown to attract tens of thousands of participants annually, with over 29,000 runners taking on the 13.1-mile course in 2024. Being a part of the SuperHalfs series, a collection of the world’s most esteemed half marathons including races in Lisbon, Prague, Berlin, Copenhagen, Cardiff, and Valencia, the Cardiff Half Marathon has further solidified its position on the global running calendar.

Matt Newman, the chief executive of Run4Wales, expressed astonishment at the overwhelming demand for the 2025 event. A whopping 23,000 individuals pre-registered for precedence access to the early bird entry phase, with all 5,000 slots filling up within 40 minutes. The subsequent release tickets were swiftly taken within an hour, signifying unparalleled interest within the running community.

For those aiming to run for charity, the lead charity, NSPCC, offers spots for a £10 registration fee alongside a £300 fundraising pledge. Associate Charity Partners for 2025 including Alzheimer’s Society, Cancer Research Wales, and Mind are also providing reduced entry fees and additional benefits in exchange for fundraising efforts.
