There was a “serious collision” reported on a busy main road in Cardiff on Monday morning, prompting police response.
South Wales Police announced that the accident occurred on the A4232 shortly before 8:45 am. They advised that the road was reduced to one lane between the A4161 slip and the A48 turnoff.
Motorists were urged to avoid the area if possible and seek alternative routes due to expected delays. According to the traffic monitoring system Inrix, delays of up to 40 minutes were observed in the eastern parts of the city.
However, by 9:30 am, the accident had been cleared, leading to a reduction in delays.
Accident has now been cleared
Traffic monitoring system Inri is showing that the accident has now been cleared and the delays have reduced.
It says: “Long delays cleared, earlier accident on A4232 Southern Way Southbound from A48 Eastern Avenue (Llanedeyrn Interchange) to Lamby Way. Previous congestion to the A48(M) before St Mellons, also seeing delays on the Northbound side of the road..”
