Burglar ‘has little or no recollection’ of stealing cars from showroom

A man admitted to burglarising a car showroom and stealing four cars, including a Mercedes Benz, in Neyland, Pembrokeshire. Brian Davies broke into the Sinclair garage in the early hours of the morning and made off with a Mercedes CLA, Audi Q3, VW Tiguan, and Audi A1 after taking the keys to the vehicles. One car was later found, but the rest remain missing. The thefts occurred on April 2 last year.

Brian Davies, aged 53 and from Bush Street, Pembroke Dock, pleaded guilty to three counts of burglary at Swansea Crown Court. He appeared via videolink from Swansea Prison. The hearing was meant to be for a plea and sentencing, but a pre-sentence report was not completed due to a misunderstanding by the probation service. The judge, Catherine Richards, adjourned the sentencing to October 24, seeking more information on the value of the cars, their whereabouts, the nature of the break-ins, and whether they were executed professionally.

Davies’ advocate mentioned that the defendant had little to no recollection of the events due to drug consumption. The judge apologised for the delay and mentioned that the pre-sentence report would explore alternatives to immediate custody. The case will be revisited later in the month for sentencing.

This incident sheds light on the impact of drug consumption on criminal activities and the importance of addressing underlying issues that lead to such behaviours. It serves as a reminder of the need for rehabilitation and support for individuals involved in criminal acts.
