A young mother in Wales has been given a devastating prognosis after finding a lump just two months after giving birth to her daughter. Nikita Jones, 22, discovered a lump between her breasts last summer, which was initially treated as an abscess. However, when antibiotics failed to resolve the issue, Nikita was referred to a breast clinic where she received the shocking news in August 2023 that she had an extremely rare form of sarcoma, a soft tissue cancer. She was informed that she was one of only two people in the UK with this type of cancer.
Following her diagnosis, Nikita had to endure a difficult journey of surgeries and treatments. She underwent a double mastectomy and had part of her chest plate removed in October 2023. Subsequently, she received proton beam therapy in London for six weeks. Despite being given the all-clear in March this year, Nikita later experienced pain and swelling in her legs along with a persistent cough and chest infections. A CT scan revealed the return of cancer in her lungs, with doctors informing her that there were limited options available for further treatment.
Heartbreakingly, Nikita was told she had approximately six months to live without treatment, and with chemotherapy, she might have around 16 months. Determined to make lasting memories with her daughter, Vienna, Nikita’s friends set up a GoFundMe page to support her in creating these precious moments. The fundraising page has already raised £3,000 within 24 hours.
Before receiving the crushing news, Nikita had moved into her first home with her partner and daughter in the hopes of starting anew. Despite the grim prognosis, Nikita has remained resilient and has planned a special celebration to defiantly face the challenges ahead. With the support of her family and friends, Nikita is determined to cherish every moment and create lasting memories with her loved ones.
Nikita’s story serves as a poignant reminder of the resilience and strength displayed by individuals facing unimaginable circumstances. As she prepares to navigate the difficult road ahead, she is surrounded by a community rallying behind her, providing unwavering support and love during this trying time.
