Man filmed navigating flooded streets in inflatable chair

In the midst of torrential rain and flooding that swept through parts of North Wales on Monday, one man, Josh Asbo Taylor from the Asbo Boyz car club, decided to bring some light-hearted relief to the situation. Purchasing an inflatable, he took to the waters for a paddle near Rhyl’s Clock Tower. Captured on video by Paris Kendrick, Taylor was seen rowing across the flooded area, entertaining onlookers with his high spirits. Paris described the moment as “just a bit of fun.” He explained that one of their friends bought an inflatable and decided to row near the Clock Tower where flooding had occurred.

The group had been driving around when they came across the submerged streets. Paris mentioned, “We had driven around and come across some flooding. There was a couple of roads affected in Rhyl, but Towyn was far worse hit than Rhyl.” Following the heavy rainfall, several roads were closed, and Loggerheads Country Park, spanning the Denbighshire/Flintshire border, had to shut its gates the next day. Despite efforts to strengthen flood defences at Loggerheads after significant flooding in 2023, the new measures were not ready in time to prevent the latest flooding, as reported by North Wales Live.

Amidst the challenges posed by the weather, Josh Taylor’s lighthearted response provided a moment of joy for the community. The video of him navigating the flooded streets in an inflatable chair has since garnered attention online for its cheerful take on a difficult situation. Such moments of resilience and positivity amid adversity can often serve to uplift spirits and bring a sense of unity during challenging times.
