Drugs runner found with crack cocaine in flat known as ‘Legoland’

A drugs runner was found with 4g of crack cocaine when police raided his flat as a woman tried to warn him of their presence. He was also found in possession of a mobile phone containing messages showing he had been dealing crack cocaine and cannabis.

Michael Cross, 31, of Barry, had a search warrant executed at his flat on June 22 after a woman was seen leaving the address following a suspected drug deal. Police officers confronted the woman, leading to a struggle where she dropped a white rock. The woman revealed she had purchased crack cocaine from “Legoland,” a term referring to Cross’s address in Osprey Court.

Upon encountering Cross at his flat, a scuffle ensued, resulting in him dropping two plastic wraps containing crack cocaine. Police then found a woman sitting on a sofa, and upon moving her, discovered another package with six wraps of crack cocaine, bringing the total seized amount to 4.2g. Additionally, a Nokia burner phone recovered from Cross contained messages pertaining to drug supply, using slang such as “Have you got legs?” and inquiries from customers about drug availability.

It was revealed that Cross was working as a drugs runner on behalf of someone else. He pleaded guilty to charges of being concerned in the supply of class A and B drugs and possession with intent to supply class A drugs. Despite his plea, Cross was sentenced to 29 months’ imprisonment at Cardiff Crown Court. In mitigation, his lawyer explained his addiction to crack cocaine, attributing it to a troubled childhood and neurodiversity symptoms, alongside personal challenges like miscarriages suffered by his partner.

The judge, Jeremy Jenkins, emphasized an inevitable custodial sentence for Cross, who had prior convictions for supplying heroin and various criminal offenses. Acknowledging the mitigating circumstances, the court handed down the 29 months’ imprisonment sentence to Cross.
