Dating trends for 2025 have been revealed by Plenty of Fish, shedding light on the ever-evolving landscape of modern romance. Heavily influenced by popular culture and social media, new dating terms like ‘no-habiting’, ‘swamping’, and ‘thrift-matised’ have emerged to capture the essence of dating in the coming year.
These trends have been curated based on insights from 1,500 UK daters, with ‘fiscal attraction’ and ‘rejuve-dating’ also predicted to make waves in 2025. Plenty of Fish collaborated with comedian and filmmaker Grace Campbell to offer relatable advice and insights through an advice hotline, aiming to inspire singles in their dating journeys.
Campbell expressed her belief that many single Britons would resonate with these dating trends, as they reflect shared experiences in the search for love. From valuing personal space with ‘no-habiting’ to seeking financial security with ‘fiscal attraction’, these trends aim to empower individuals to tailor their dating experiences to their unique needs.
One trend, ‘swamping’, emphasises the importance of authenticity and comfort in relationships, with 83% of singles prioritising being true to themselves over impressing their partners. ‘No-habiting’ reflects a shift towards waiting longer to move in with a partner to preserve personal space, a choice made by 83% of UK daters.
‘Thrift-matised’ highlights the trend of opting for low-cost date options, with 81% of singles choosing budget-friendly activities like visiting cultural hotspots, having picnics, or exploring museums. This trend is partly influenced by the cost of living crisis, with 70% of daters acknowledging its impact on their dating choices.
‘Fiscal attraction’ underscores the desire for a partner who is financially secure and attractive, with 66% of UK singles seeking someone who is both visually appealing and money-savvy. Money matters are becoming common early discussions in relationships, with finances being raised as early as the sixth date.
Plenty of Fish’s collaboration with Grace Campbell aims to equip singles with the tools and insights to navigate the dynamic world of dating in 2025. By embracing these trends and advice, individuals can approach dating in a way that aligns with their values and aspirations, fostering meaningful connections in the process.
