Former Arsenal and England star Theo Walcott has praised the innovative new football venue, KickX Arena in Surrey. The footballer, aged 35, visited the venue for the first time when his son had a birthday party there and was immediately impressed by the range of football formats available, along with the top-notch facilities and the friendly atmosphere.
Walcott decided to invest his name and brand in the KickX project after being captivated by what it had to offer. At a recent community event hosted by Walcott at the KickX Arena, ex-Lioness Katie Chapman, also a KickX ambassador, joined him in Addlestone, Surrey. The event saw local players, community groups, and teams participate in games and challenges alongside the England stars, and engage in a Q&A session.
The KickX Arena, which opened its doors in July 2023, features seven micro-sided football formats, including innovative options like Padbol – a combination of football, squash, and tennis, and Teqball – a fusion of football and table tennis. Surrey FA announced their official recognition of the KickX Arena and the hybrid football games during the event.
During the event, Walcott shared his enthusiasm for KickX, expressing how the venue provides a safe and energising environment for football enthusiasts of all abilities. He highlighted the importance of fostering talent and skill development, particularly through unique formats like Padbol and Panna. Walcott emphasised the significance of having a space where individuals can come together, relax, socialise, and enjoy friendly competition.
The former Arsenal forward reminisced about his experiences at professional clubs, where players like Mesut Ozil and Santi Cazorla would engage in impromptu training sessions in small areas. He stressed the safety and comfort that KickX Arena offers, enabling players to interact and improve their skills in a positive setting. Walcott emphasised the inclusivity of the venue, encouraging people of all levels to participate and bond over their shared love for football.
