The incident happened Friday 2nd of December at around 8pm on.
South Wales police are looking for witnesses following the death of a 19-year-old after a crash on St Helen’s Road, Swansea road while they continuing to investigate the fatal road traffic collision.
The crash happened following an attempted traffic stop by police.
A blue Yamaha motorcycle was in collision with a silver Toyota Prius, despite the best efforts of members of the emergency services, the driver of the 19 year old motorcycle was declared dead at the scene
The second driver was taken to hospital for treatment and the road was closed for a significant period of time. IOPC investigators have attended the scene following the incident as they were voluntarily referred the matter in accordance with national protocols.
Detective Sergeant Lee Christer said: “Our thoughts remain with the family and friends of the motorcyclist. We understand there were a number of witnesses to the collision. We would like to hear from anyone who may have witnessed the collision or who may have any dash-cam footage of the incident, or who witnessed the manner of driving of both vehicles prior to the collision.”

The Independent Office for Police who are carrying out a separate independent investigation relating to police contact prior to and after the collision.

A IOPC spokesman said on Saturday: “We can confirm we have opened an independent investigation relating to a fatal collision that occurred last night shortly after 8pm on St Helen’s Road, Swansea. The collision involved a motorcycle and another vehicle, both being driven by members of the public, following an attempted traffic stop by South Wales Police. The motorcyclist sadly died at the scene and the driver of the second vehicle was taken to hospital for treatment.
“The force informed us of the incident last night and we sent investigators to the scene and to the post incident procedures. Our thoughts are with the bereaved family at this difficult time and we have been in touch with them to offer our condolences and explain our role. We will also be in touch with the driver of the other vehicle involved. Our investigation is at a very early stage.”
