I’m A Celebrity star rushed to hospital and shares health update
Former I’m A Celebrity contestant Frankie Dettori has been taken to hospital following a fall from a horse. The renowned jockey, aged 53, shared on social media an image of himself in a hospital bed, revealing that he had dislocated his shoulder. Expressing gratitude for the support received, he mentioned his shoulder had been “put back together,” reassuring his followers that he was doing fine. Among those sending their best wishes were his former I’m A Celebrity campmates Fred Sirieix and Marvin Humes. Fred Sirieix showed his support with a heart emoji, while Marvin Humes sent his well wishes too. Fans also shared their concerns and well-wishes on the post, with one fan commenting: “Get well soon Frankie. Sorry to hear you’re hurt.”
The incident occurred as Dettori was riding at the Aqueduct Racecourse in New York when he was ejected from his horse, Pretty Liza, before a race. The horse was scratched from the race, and Dettori was taken to the hospital for further evaluation. This incident is not Dettori’s first encounter with danger, as he survived a deadly plane crash back in 2000 that claimed the life of the pilot.
In 2020, on the 20th anniversary of the crash, Dettori shared a photo of himself covered in injuries, reflecting on his gratitude for surviving the ordeal. Earlier this year, he narrowly escaped a serious injury after being thrown from his horse moments after winning a race in LA. Despite these challenges, Dettori continues to be resilient in his career as a jockey.
Having made his debut over 30 years ago, Dettori has appeared on various TV shows and reality programmes, including Celebrity Big Brother and A Question of Sport. He also participated in I’m A Celebrity as a campmate last year, where he became the first contestant to be voted out.
Frankie Dettori’s recent hospitalisation has garnered an outpouring of support from fans and colleagues, showcasing the resilience and determination of the renowned jockey in overcoming adversities throughout his career.
