Update over mystery woman’s body found in river in Primark top

A woman’s body found in the River Mersey wearing a lime-green Primark crop-top and New Look jeans still remains unidentified six months after the discovery. The mystery surrounding her identity continues as police have been unable to establish who she is despite extensive investigative efforts. The woman, found near Chorlton Water Park in south Manchester, was of slight build, with medium length dark brown hair, and stood at 156cm tall. Despite various examinations and DNA testing, her age, ethnicity, and cause of death remain unknown.

Police have not been able to link her to any missing person reports or identify any personal belongings that could help identify her. The lack of visible jewellery or identifiable items in her possession has made it challenging for authorities to determine her identity. Detective Inspector Louise Edwards from GMP’s Major Investigations Team expressed determination to solve the case and urge anyone with information to come forward. Despite ongoing appeals, the woman’s identity and cause of death remain a mystery.

Greater Manchester Police (GMP) confirmed that there have been no further updates regarding the case and they are keeping an open mind regarding the cause of her death. Authorities encourage anyone with information to contact the police on 101, via gmp.police.uk, or through the charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111. The log number to reference is 1191 of 21/03/24. The search for answers continues as the woman in the lime-green top remains nameless, with her story shrouded in mystery.
