Major plans revealed to transform ‘worst-rated’ hotel

Major plans have been unveiled to rejuvenate the Grand Hotel in Llandudno, which is currently one of the lowest-rated hotels in the beloved seaside resort. Britannia Group has committed to investing millions of pounds into upgrading the hotel, situated near Llandudno Pier. Concerns have been raised locally about the hotel’s neglected appearance and its impact on the town. However, a significant transformation is on the horizon with a planned £3 million renovation of the hotel’s exterior already in progress. Additionally, work is underway to enhance the 170 bedrooms, with interior renovations scheduled to commence in March 2025.

During a recent site visit, MS Janet Finch-Saunders was briefed on the renovation project. She expressed her excitement about the news, stating, “It is truly fantastic news that over £5m is being invested in the Grand Hotel.” Mrs Finch-Saunders commended Britannia Hotels for their commitment to revitalizing the historic property while retaining its character. She acknowledged the positive impact this investment will have on the hotel, the town, and the region as a whole. Looking ahead, she eagerly anticipates witnessing the completion of the refurbished balconies and is keen to host an event at the hotel in the future.

The Grand Hotel’s transformation has been met with enthusiasm and optimism, marking a new chapter for the iconic establishment in Llandudno. This significant investment reflects a commitment to preserving the town’s heritage and enhancing its appeal to visitors and residents alike. Stay tuned for the Grand Hotel’s remarkable revival as it prepares to reclaim its status as a prized gem in Llandudno’s hospitality landscape.
